INTEGRATE APPLICATIONS WITHOUT ANY CODING USING ORACLE INTEGRATION CLOUD

With the increasing footprint of Oracle Cloud applications comes the challenge of integrating those with other Cloud and on-prem applications. Organizations desire a single platform to achieve all the integration needs, including B2B and B2C integrations like EDI and XML. Oracle Integration Cloud provides an innovative and powerful cloud platform to extend, analyze, and integrate applications with the rest of your enterprise resources.

Learning Objectives:
1. How to use the point and click data integration technology within OIC
2. How to integrate Oracle SaaS products
3. How to integrate B2B integrations via EDI using OIC
4. Integration trends and cross-application business process modeling
5. Improving operational efficiency with real-time analytics

THE LAYERS OF YOUR IT INFRASTRUCTURE: CAN YOU SUPPORT YOUR EOL SYSTEMS & HOW?

Customized and often proprietary applications serve as a mission-critical function in an organization’s IT infrastructure. However, these applications present unique challenges. They are often written to run on specific operating systems (OS) and hardware platforms and are difficult to port and migrate.

As the underlying OS and host hardware ages, IT Departments face an increased risk of downtime as spare parts become difficult to source and their in-house technical support staff either retire or move on to other employment.

As the sun sets on Solaris and SPARC, the Unix OS and RISC processor, IT Directors and Managers are tasked with (a) ensuring their application’s underlying OS is properly supported, and (b) any risks associated with aging hardware that lead to unplanned downtime are mitigated.

In order to maintain uptime and availability of the application, how do you support each layer of your infrastructure if both the OS and hardware are at (or approaching) end-of-life, without making any significant changes to your application or business processes?

Learning Objectives:
Understand the layers of infrastructure and where there is a gap in support as well as the overall drain it has on your infrastructure.
How you can maintain support for your end-of-life operating systems, mitigate perceived security vulnerabilities and meet audit requirements while modernizing your infrastructure.

OATUG TECH SIG TALK – TIME TO UPGRADE: TAKING YOUR EBS DATABASE TO 19C

Oracle Database 19c was certified for the E-Business Suite in late summer 2019. This means that companies have until the end of 2020 to complete their upgrade to 19c in order to avoid paying extended support fees. This presentation will review the process of upgrading from 12.1.0.2 to 19c in an E-Business Suite 12.2 environment. It will discuss the architectural changes done as part of the database upgrade including moving from a CDB with a single PDB.

This updated session will include a discussion of the changes to cloning that you will need to make.

EMERGING LEADERS: ORACLE CERTIFICATIONS PANEL DISCUSSION

As a young/new professional in the technology field, it can be challenging to determine which Oracle certifications will provide the best training to excel in your career. Julio Lois and Amod Joshi will share their own experiences with Oracle Certifications, Oracle Learning Explorer, and the Learning Paths offered for Oracle Cloud Applications. This session will include suggestions for where to get started in your education, training opportunities, and an overview of the certification process. They will also discuss ways to access free support and real-world application for your knowledge.

Learning Objectives:
* Highlight the process of Cloud-based Learning Paths and Certifications, including OCI, SaaS, ERP, HCM, and Autonomous Database
* Highlight training resources, weighing the pros/cons of Oracle’s paid training subscription
* Discuss the Oracle Learning Explorer, which offers training and assessments as a precursor to the Cloud Certifications
* Discuss free alternatives to Oracle’s training, such as Oracle LaunchPad, which can support your learning or replace some of the paid Certifications

HIDDEN LIMITATIONS OF ORACLE SMART VIEW AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM

Oracle Smart View is a popular choice for Oracle ERP Cloud users because it provides a more flexible environment for ad hoc analysis. Unfortunately, Smart View is not purpose-built for finance, so its drill-down capabilities, formatting options, and the ability to combine multiple charts of accounts into a single workbook are all limited. Which means, extracting near-real time financial data and analyzing them are not possible.

Learning Objectives:

If you want to spend less time building and compiling reports and more time focusing on the value created through analysis and problem-solving, join insightsoftware and Mohan Iyer, of FSCP Solutions, as they show how to overcome the limitations of Oracle Smart View by allowing you access to:

  • Near real-time data and rapid refreshes with no API limits
  • Powerful drilldowns without programming
  • Reports that can be easily created or modified reports using intuitive, formula-based function

HOW TO MOVE ORACLE EBS TO THE CLOUD AND EFFECTIVELY ADAPT OPERATIONAL BENEFITS

Did you know there is a way to take advantage of the Cloud while keeping your EBS customizations? Backups as a Service, flexible hardware that can scale, cloning of environments, paying for what you use and only what you use. Move and improve your existing EBS environment to a modern, flexible Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and upgrade your environment. We will show you case studies that demonstrate how to keep control as well as control your costs.

Learning Objectives:
– Learn ways to maintain the customizations you created in your EBS environment and move your EBS to the cloud in order to take advantage of all its advantages and benefits, and what those are.
– Understand what items you need to take into consideration before you move your Oracle EBS to the cloud, including workload considerations, compliance issues, and more.

CAREER CHANGES: TAKING THE LEAP

Event Image

Changing careers can be a daunting challenge. How do you shift your skills and experiences into a new field? How do you know if the new career is the right fit? And how do you catch up in an industry that is less familiar? For people that have made the leap later in their careers to a job in the technology and applications space, it’s important to find resources, support, and the knowledge to adapt quickly.

In this session, Lee will share his own experience and decisions to move into the technology space, and his challenges and lessons learned along the way. This is a great session for young professionals or people new to their careers, as well as supervisors and leaders that want to provide support to their teams.

OATUG TECH SIG TALK – CLONING PANEL

Event Image

This panel will discuss the differences between available release R12.1 and R12.2 cloning methods. The advantages and disadvantages of each cloning method will be discussed in depth. This panel of experienced database administrators will lead a discussion focusing on the questions, such as “which cloning method is best to use in your particular environment”.

You can submit your questions before the panel here: Cloning Panel Questions.

Attendees will gain practical knowledge and tips and tricks to assist with cloning of Oracle E-Business Suite release R12.1 and R12.2 environments. We will also discuss cloning EBS version 12.2 with a Multitenant database using Rapid Clone.
