AUSOUG Webinar: What’s Your Super-Power? Mine is Machine Learning with Oracle Autonomous DB with Jim Czuprynski
"Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are a lot like preserving the Earth's environment: Almost everyone is talking about what should be done to save it, but very few people have committed to actually doing something about it. This session demonstrates a few real-life opportunities to discover unseen patterns and relationships within sample financial and election data by leveraging the AI and ML capabilities already built into Oracle Autonomous Database. Modals and Popups and Dialogs, Oh My! …Which to Use When, How and Why by Karen Cannell
Learn the subtle and not-so-subtle distinctions between APEX modals, popups and inline dialogs: Which to use when, why to choose one over the other, and how to use them appropriately in your APEX applications. We will cover modal and non-modal dialog pages, inline dialog and inline popup region types, when to use a dialog page vs an inline dialog or popup, and caveats and challenges to be aware of with each element type. Emphasis is on use of declarative APEX elements and documented JavaScript APIs whenever possible, and best practices for employing these various elements in your APEX pages, including

Securing your mission critical systems running Oracle from cyber attacks by Trichy Premkumar
Until recently, organizations have focused on trying to prevent cyberattacks, which come primarily from hacking and malware. However, the likelihood that all malware will be discovered before harm is done is slim, particularly for slow-moving and sophisticated attacks. This difficulty of detecting malware early gives hackers time to orchestrate attacks ranging from extortion to outright destruction of mission-critical systems. Such cyberattacks can cripple an organization, leading to revenue loss, negative publicity, and lasting customer distrust. In this session we will review how Oracle data protection can be simplified, secured and enhanced to include comprehensive cyber recovery protection.

Location matters: The new Map Region Type in APEX 21.1 by Carsten Czarski
This presentation introduces the new Map Region Type, which was introduced the latest APEX release 21.1. Attendees will learn, how to easily visualize location data from a SQL query or a REST Data Source on a map - all declarative, without manual coding and without external Plug-Ins. The session will also cover how to integrate a Map region with other APEX region types like Charts, Reports or Faceted Search. Tips and tricks about visualizing larger amounts of data and how to leverage Oracle Spatial functionality will wrap the session

Practical training: How to get off the hamster wheel of Oracle Cloud quarterly updates by Peter Earnshaw and Peter Crew
One of the key challenges Oracle Cloud customers have is keeping pace with the quarterly upgrade schedule for Oracle Cloud applications. A typical upgrade process involves several routine tasks, such as: Reviewing upcoming changes and assessing the potential impact on users and existing processes Performing UAT cycles in a sandbox environment, in preparation for the production rollout Preparing and disseminating documentation and other self-help materials in case of significant UI or process changes Assessing the impact on user productivity of issues introduced by the upgrade, to adequately allocate IT and other resources towards their resolution Finally, being able to engage

Graphing Grifters: Identify & Display Patterns of Corruption With Oracle Graph Studio by Jim Czuprynski
Ever wonder how your bank knows when to text you when a potentially fraudulent transaction appears on its radar? It’s simple if you know how to apply the right algorithms to financial transactions so that outliers become readily apparent. These techniques can be applied to just about any anomalous behavior, and property graph technology helps make outliers stand out dramatically. Through presentations and online demonstrations, this session will: • Show how to use appropriate ML algorithms already built into Oracle Database to uncover anomalous patterns • Demonstrate Oracle Graph Studio’s capabilities to identify and display outliers more clearly • Introduce

On the way to the “Least Privilege Principle” – Privilege Analysis with the Oracle Database by Markus Flechtner
As a DBA you probably know the situation: one of the first SQL commands when installing third-party software is “GRANT DBA TO ..”. Or: the developers in your own development department don’t know which privileges they need in the database – and first demand DBA rights in the development environment. And then the security officer appears on stage and says “everyone may only get the rights he really needs” – the well-known least privilege principle is required. But how can this be found out? Since database version 12c Oracle offers the feature “Privilege Analysis” for this purpose. Unfortunately, the use
