Thanks GoldenTalks!

Hi all,

I want to first say thanks for Gilson and his whole team in GoldenGateBR for the very pleasant time on last Thursday’s conversation!

We spoke a bit of everything, but mostly over career, my historic on the community, and of course the grepOra blog.

Also many thanks for the ones who could connect and stay connected up to the end of the video. Here is the recording, if you will (it’s in Portuguese!).

grepOra 2.0 is Online! What’s New?

Hi all!

We are glad to announce our version 2.0 is online!

We have been working with the same blog layout since 2015, as being we HAD to make a few improvements to accommodate all changes we had on our structure and also some things to make YOUR experience even better.

We did try to keep the layout as clean as possible, as you are used to. In case you find any big issue, broken link or similar, let us know!

WHAT’S NEW?

1. The HOME page:

  • We made some quick buttons for the main features and we hope you like it!
  • We have now a quick panel with the latest posts on our main categories.

2. The AGENDA

  • We know some of you get annoyed about the number of events we announce on the blog feed.
  • However, we know some of you come here specifically for this.
  • To accommodate both, we have set an AGENDA to have in a much more modern fashion the list of upcoming events from either the Community around the Globe and also Oracle official events and webinars.
  • We are still getting things around and you’ll keep seeing improvements in this regard soon!
  • You have now the LIST and SCHEDULE view too!

3. The FORUM

  • YES! You have now an open Forum to ask quick questions and have answers not only from the Authors but from the whole community. ENJOY and USE IT!
  • I have filled with some questions I heard recently and answers, just as an example. But we await YOUR interaction there!

4. A LEARNING Space

  • As many of you asked, we started a learning space where we recommend some of the books and trainings we have read/tested/validated/like for your development.
  • Among the items we have on the roadmap is start including reviews on trainings and books.
  • By buying the books from the given links you’ll be helping grepOra to keep alive and growing. Thanks!
  • You can expect new sessions, recommendations and reviews soon!

There are of course tons of quick and tiny improvements here and there all over the pages and spaces. We have rebuilt ALL the pages, like the MEMBERS page. But those are the 4 main improvements.

You can expect for more soon:

  • A Monthly Newsletter will start soon. Subscribe yourself and stay sharp!
  • Book and Trainings Reviews will start to be published soon.
  • The Agenda will become more integrated and have additional sources soon.
  • Expect for more surprises soon!

We are glad to have you here. This is all for YOU!

I want to take some space here to also thank Gabriel Morás and Jociéli Maleico for helping out on this reimagination process. Thank you!

Thank you and Enjoy!

There is no chapters of any restrictedly fixed boundaries. However, to give a little sense, we kind of organized the posts by following this (using our blog categories):

GrepOra.com in 2016…

Hello!
Today’s post is to share with you some information about what 2016 represented for GrepOra.com.

In 2016, the first official year of GrepOra.com, we had over 26,000 accesses from more than 160 different countries. Indeed, almost every country in the world was in GrepOra.com this year. And this is spectacular considering we discuss very specific topics about Oracle Database and Applications.

The accesses are still growing every day, which show us we can expect even bigger numbers to celebrate in 2017. See below our monthly accesses graph of 2016.

Besides that, some accomplishments make us even prouder, like being recognized by OTN LA (Oracle Technology Network – Latin America) as a technical reference blog in Database Management and Performance category.

Since this recognition in June, we have the OTN LA logo in our blog page. Also since August, we have the GUOB logo, once I participated in last GUOB Tech Day as Official Blogger.

All this, however, was not achieved only by having the blog. Since the beginning we organized the weekly posting schedule and the author’s pages. The consistency prove itself by our monthly access growth. The organization and commitment to keep posting relevant content is what led us to this point.

Notwithstanding those numbers, recognitions, networking, self improvement in technical skills, writing and mindset changing, there is a rewarding feeling of giving back to community a little bit we took. Since I started as DBA, I sometimes used independent blogs and references in the most critical and desperate moments. This way, nothing is better than feeling useful for someone else. Don’t you think?

Be sure we are preparing lots of news and even more quality content in GrepOra.com for next year.

Thank you all and have a great New Year!

Matheus.

GrepOra Anniversary!

Hello guys,
This November GrepOra is completing 1 year!

It’s being a great adventure for all of us. In this first year we already shared 150 posts and had over 18k accesses!

Every month we keep having more access then the month before, and this is because of you. So thank you for reading, accessing and keeping us on track and motivated. 🙂

In October we had more than 3.500 accesses. We expect to keep sharing interesting subjects and grow even more for the next month and next year.

captura-de-tela-2016-11-05-as-11-17-34

As way to celebrate that first year, we decided that, for the next Saturday on, I and all authors will make a post telling what GrepOra means to ourselves and what we learned in this past year.

And for you, thanks for your partnership and have a nice week! 😀

1º GrepOra Meeting!

Hi all!
Last Monday we had the first GrepOra formal meeting (ok, it was a barbecue) to talk about the blog. As you know, we are friends from other situations, so it was pretty hard to focus, specially with some beer and wine…

Anyway, things were discussed include:
– Implement a ‘Posting Agenda‘ to organize and distribute the posts. It’s already done, take a look.
– Implement a ‘Event Schedule‘ about participations in meeting of community, presentations or other events we judge interessant. It’s a good site to place the link about this king osf stuffs. Its already done too, here.
– Review blog layout. Any suggestion? leave a comment.
– Review (or create) an oficial logo. It’s quite ugly by about 1 year…
– It was spoken some stuffs about events participation, but I’m not sure what…

Had we discussed anything more?

Oh!
And we registered this momment! Here we go:
