On the last July 6th, happened at Pontifícia Universidade Católica – RS (PUCRS), the first Oracle users Group GUORS (Grupo de Usuários Oracle do Rio Grande do Sul) event of the year.

It is such a nice initiative from the hosts to gather a lot of Oracle Professionals from different areas to discuss about different subjects.

For this one we had the following schedule:

—————————————————–
14h00: Opening
14h20: Oracle 12c – Best Practices for Highly Available Oracle Databases – Carlos Pimentel – Dell
15h15: Oracle Database 12c – New Features – Everton Dias – Oracle
16h05: Networking Café
16h35:  Performance Tuning (On practice) – Gustavo Braga – Dell
17h30: Closing
—————————————————–

The speeches were nice, where we could learn and review very important subjects as setting up a High Available structure, working with pluggable databases; Using SCAN Listener, whats new for Oracle RAC databases, the importance of Services and so on, by Carlos Pimentel (Dell).

Also, there was the speech from Everton Dias from Oracle, who gave us a breafing from what’s new on Oracle Database 12c, very useful and comercial presentation focused on the new features and changes on 12c.

And closing the speeches, we had the Performance Tuning – On practice, by Gustavo Braga (Dell), which was really nice and helpful, a little more focused to developers on regard to the Index usage, where to use, how it works and so on. Also, bringing to us real cases of performance issues and generating very healthy discussions between the group about the subject.

It was an interesting and organized event. Also, if anyone feels comfortable to be an speaker, they are open to evaluate the possibility to be you! And as well receive advices on what should they approach for the next events (which is really nice).

If you feel like doing it, please just go to http://www.guors.com.br and send your thoughts!

Cheers!
Matheus and Rafael.
